This summer has slowly turned into a little scrap yarn adventure.
Every new design has helped me use up another basket of leftovers that had been waiting on my shelves. I love giving yarn a second chance, and this dress became another stop on that journey. Looking around my crochet room now, I can actually see empty spaces where there used to be piles of yarn. I never thought I'd say this, but I might actually have to buy some more soon.

View PatternA Dress That Used Less Than I Expected
One thing surprised me while making the Boho Romance Dress.
It only took about 250 g (8.82 oz) of yarn for my size small sample.
Considering that most of my designs are oversized, that's a huge difference. Oversized garments naturally use more yarn, while this dress has a close-fitting silhouette that follows the body. It's amazing how much of a difference that alone makes.
If you've been saving smaller amounts of yarn for the "perfect project," this might just be it.
For my sample, I used Omoiut Milk Cotton Yarn with a 3 mm crochet hook, but the pattern works beautifully with almost any yarn.
A Modern Take on Granny Squares
The Boho Romance Dress is made from 21 granny squares and 4 half granny squares. Once the pieces are finished, you'll join them together, fold the fabric into shape, close the back opening, add the straps, and finish the hem with a simple round of single crochet.
It's one of those projects that looks much more complicated than it really is.
Made to Fit You
Like all of my newer garment patterns, the Boho Romance Dress is made-to-measure.
Instead of choosing a standard clothing size, you'll calculate the size of your granny squares using your own measurements. That means you can create a dress that fits your body just the way you like it, without worrying about size charts.
I wanted this dress to have a close-fitting silhouette, and the made-to-measure approach makes that easy to achieve.
Crochet Along With Me
If you enjoy learning by watching, I've also filmed a full step-by-step YouTube tutorial that follows the written pattern from beginning to end.
Whether you prefer crocheting from a PDF, following a video, or using both together, you'll have everything you need to complete the project with confidence.
I'm really happy with how this dress turned out. It feels modern, feminine, and a little different from the oversized pieces I've been designing lately. And honestly... I still can't believe it only used 250 grams of yarn.
If you decide to make one, I can't wait to see your color combinations.
