Fighting the Stash
I’ve been on a mission lately fighting the stash of leftover yarn piling up in my crochet corner. I can’t relax if that corner isn’t neat and tidy, and bags of leftovers staring at me definitely aren’t neat and tidy.
So I decided to turn the chaos into something wearable. I wanted a dress that’s simple, easy, and worked in one piece. Top-down raglan was the obvious choice. No seams, no fuss, just a smooth piece that grows as you go.
Since I had several colors I wanted to use, I needed a stitch that could handle color changes beautifully. But I also didn’t want to spend forever on a slow, fussy stitch. Enter the granny stitch: fast, rhythmic, and perfect for color play.
The granny stitch also fit perfectly with the dress design I had in mind: a shape that widens at the hem, light and airy, with a flowy drape. Exactly the kind of piece you can throw on over tights, jeans, or wear on its own when the weather is warm.
This dress has been such a joy to make… stash-busting, colorful, and surprisingly quick. Sometimes the best designs come from solving two problems at once: cleaning up the corner and making something I’ll love to wear.
