Sweater dresses are having a moment this season. After my Puff Sweater Dress I knew I wanted to design another one, this time with lighter cotton yarn so it can be worn all year long. That is how the Pumpkin Dress came to life.
I gave the sleeves a shorter 3/4 length because I am one of those people who cannot stand long sleeves. If they are long I will just keep pulling them up anyway haha. But do not worry, if you prefer longer sleeves the pattern includes instructions so you can adjust them to your liking.
It has also been a while since I designed a top down raglan piece and I forgot how satisfying it is. No seaming at all, you just keep working and the whole shape appears like magic. The stitch itself is super simple and meditative, perfect for relaxing while you crochet.
I used two colors but you can absolutely make it in one or go wild with many. The name Pumpkin is not about the color but the shape. The ribbing at the hem and body creates this rounded silhouette, like being wrapped in a pumpkin.
I styled mine with skin colored tights for the photos but you can pair it with jeans, leggings, trousers, really no limits. It is oversized, cozy, and playful all at once, exactly the kind of piece you will want to wear again and again.
