Free Crochet Ruffle Crop Top Pattern

If you’re looking for an easy crochet top pattern with a modern fit and beautiful texture, this Ruffle Crop Top is such a fun project to make. It uses the lemon peel stitch for a soft woven texture and features a relaxed silhouette with a feminine ruffle detail on the back.

This crochet crop top pattern is beginner-friendly, works up surprisingly fast, and includes sizes XS–5XL.

The top is crocheted from the bottom up in two separate panels that are sewn together at the shoulders and sides. The back panel includes the signature ruffle detail, while the neckline and armholes are finished with simple edging for a clean look.

Notes

  • The top is made of a front panel and a back panel.

  • It’s crocheted from bottom to top.

  • First, you will make the front panel, then the back panel.

  • For the back panel, you will start where the ruffle part begins and crochet the ruffle after the upper back panel is finished.

  • Then you will sew the shoulders and body sides together.

  • Finish with the neckline and one round of single crochet around the armholes.

  • If you want the top to be longer, simply add more rows to both panels.

I recommend watching the video tutorial before starting.

[Continue with your remaining instructions exactly as written.]

Assembling

Place the panels on top of each other with the right sides facing.

Sew the shoulders together with a slip stitch.

Sew the body sides together with a slip stitch.

Neckline

Round 1: Right side facing you, attach the yarn in the center stitch of the neck hole on the back panel, ch 1 and work scs around the neck hole. Slip stitch in the first stitch of the round.

Round 2: Work into the front loop only. Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in first stitch,
*1 dc in next st, 1 sc in next st; rep from * to end. Slip stitch in the first stitch of the round.

Round 3: ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc on top of the dc from previous round,
*1 dc in next st, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * around. Slip stitch to join.

Finish off.

Armholes

With the right side facing, attach yarn near the side seam at the armpit area and work single crochets evenly around the armhole.

This round should be worked slightly tighter so the armhole sits nicely.

Slip stitch to join and finish off.
