Materials You’ll Need:

  • YARN: DROPS MERINO EXTRA FINE in color (01) for a touch of pure woolen softness.
  • Hook: Comfortable 5 mm to bring the stars to life.
  • Essentials: Yarn needle, scissors, and a stitch marker to keep everything in place.

Creating the Stars:

With a gauge of 10 stars and 9.5 rows making up a perfect 10 x 10 cm square, you’ll be crocheting a cosmos of softness. The sample instructions will guide you through the creation of your first stars, setting you on a path to a stunning infinity scarf.

The Pattern:

Starting with a chain of 24, you’ll delve into the starry rounds that build up to a finished size offering a width of 30 cm and a height of 30.5 cm when laid flat. The US terminology stitch key will guide you through each half double crochet and slip stitch, while the specialty stitch key offers a step-by-step on the star stitch itself.

Star stitch Infinity Scarf Pattern

Materials

  • YARN: DROPS MERINO EXTRA FINE, yarn group B, 100% wool, color (01)
  • 3 skeins of yarn = 150 g / 315 m
  • Hook:  5 mm
  • Yarn Needle, Scissors, Stitch marker 

Gauge

10 stars and 9.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Instructions for the sample:

Ch 24

Round: You will be working in the back bumps of the chs. Ch 3, pick up 5 loops beginning in 2nd ch, in the 3rd ch, in the base of ch 3, and in next 2 chs (6 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1 to close the star (that is the eye of the star).

* pick up 1 loop in the eye, pick up 1 loop in the side of the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in the same ch as the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in each of the next 2 chs (= 6 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1 *, repeat around.

When you have 2 chs left, make the last star:

Pick up 1 loop in the eye, pick up 1 loop in the side of the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in the same ch as the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in the next ch and pick up the last loop in the base of the 1st st of the 1st star in this round (= 6 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1. Slst in the 1st st of the round to join. (12 stars)

Round 2: ch1, turn. Work 2 hdc in the 1st  eye and in each eye around. Slst to join the round. (24 hdc)

Round 3: ch3, turn. Pick up 5 sts beginning in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3rd ch from the hook, the base of the ch 3, 1st st and 2nd st (= 6 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops on the hook. Ch 1 to close the star. *Pick up 1 loop in the eye, pick up 1 loop in the side of the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in the same st as the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in each of the next 2 sts (= 6 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops, 1 ch *, repeat around.

When you have 2 sts left, make the last star:

Pick up 1 loop in the eye, pick up 1 loop in the side of the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in the same ch as the last st of the previous star, pick up 1 loop in the next st and pick up the last loop in the base of the 1st st of the 1st star in this round (= 6 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1. Slst in the 1st st of the round to join. (12 stars)

Repeat row 2 and 3 until row 11. 

Finished size

Width (when flat): 30 cm

Height : 30.5 cm

  • ch = chain
  • chs = chains
  • mc = magic circle
  • hdc = half double crochet 
  • yo = yarn over  
  • st = stitch
  • sts = stitches
  • slst = slip stitch
  • slsts = slip stitches

Specialty Stitch & Technique Key

Star stitch – explained in the instructions for the sample gauge 

Notes

  • You will be working in joined rounds.
  • You can adjust the width by adding additional chains to the beginning ch 120, but make sure you have an even number of chains. 
  • You can adjust the length by adding additional rounds after round 32, but make sure you have an even number of rounds (the last round will be the round with hdcs).

Instructions

Ch 120

Slst in the back bump to join the round.

Round 1: You will be working in the back bumps of the chs. Ch 3 and work star st around. Slst in the 1st st to join the round. (60 stars)

Round 2: ch1, turn. Work 2 hdc in the 1st  eye and in each eye around. Slst in the 1st st to join the round. (120 hdc)

Round 3: ch3, turn. Work star stitch around. Slst to in the 1st st join the round. (60 stars)

Repeat row 2 and 3 until row 32. 

Finish off.
