Notes

  • The pattern is made for size small, but with detailed instructions on how to make smaller and larger sizes.
  • You will start working around the shoulders in joined rounds (it’s a raglan style sweater, one piece, no sewing), leaving the holes for the sleeves/armholes, working on the body and finishing with the sleeves.
  • It’s crocheted from top to bottom.
  • Use the yarn with the same characteristics as the yarn I used, that’s sport weight yarn. I also recommend that you follow the gauge even though the pattern is made to follow along by adjusting it to your body measurements.
  • Ch 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.

Instructions (size S)

Fhhdc 119

Join the foundation chain:

Yo and insert hook under two loops on the bottom of previous stitch, insert hook in the 1st ch that you made when starting the foundation chain, when you made the ch 2, yo and pull the loop through that ch and the two loops that are on the hook. You just joined the bottom of the foundation chain. Now you’ll finish joining by making a fhdc st, so yo and pull up a loop, (yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook) twice. Sl st in 1st fhdc st of the foundation chain.

Rounds 1 – 11: ch 1, turn. Hhdc in 2nd st from the ch 1 and across. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join.

With stitch markers mark stitches for the increases for the next row. Start on the join and place a stitch marker in 18th st from the left and right (this will be the body). Place another stitch marker in the next stitch, so 19th st from the left and the right side. Count 23 sts from the left and right from these last 2 stitch markers and place a stitch marker there. This will be for the sleeves. Place a stitch marker in the next stitch, so 24th st from the left and right. This will be for the body.

So you have 36 sts for the body and 24 sts for the sleeves.

The photo shows an example for size S. Orange stitch markers mark the body and blue stitch markers are marking the armhole.

Round 12: ch 1, turn. Hhdc until you reach the 1st stitch marker, 2 hhdc in the next st (where the 1st stitch marker is) and place a stitch marker in the 2nd st of that increase (this is where you will make the increase in the next round). 2 hhdc in the next st (where the 2nd stitch marker is) and place a stitch marker in the 1st st of that increase (this is where you will make the increase in the next round). Work hhdcs across until you reach the next stitch marker. Repeat the instructions from the 1st two increases across. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join.

Repeat the instructions from round 12 until round 37.

Joining front and back increase sections together:

Round 38: ch 1, turn. Hhdc until you reach the 1st stitch marker, work 1 hhdc in the st where the stitch marker is.

Take the front section with the increases: yo and insert the hook in the st where you just made a hhdc, insert the hook in the st where the orange stitch marker is (on the other side), yo, pull the loop through both sts and through the 1st loop, yo and pull the loop through the both remaining loops on the hook.

Hhdc across until you reach the next stitch marker. Repeat the instructions for joining and hhdc across until you reach the 1st hhdc of this round. Sl st in the 1st hhdc to join.

Follow the instructions from my YouTube tutorial if you have any uncertainties.

You are working on the body now:

Rounds 39 – 66: ch 1, turn. Hhdc in 2nd st from the ch 1 and across. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join.

Round 67: ch 1, turn. Hhdc in 2nd st, sk 1, hhdc in next st repeat from * to the end of the round. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join. (88)

If the sweater fits too small on the waist, work: ch 1, turn. Hhdc in 2nd st, sk 1, hhdc in next 2 sts repeat from * to the end of the round. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join. (118)

Round 68: ch 2, turn. 3 dcs flo in 2nd st and across. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join. (264)

Finish off.

Sleeves

You have 74 sts around the armhole. Don’t count the sts that you used for joining the back and front increase sections together.

Round 1: right side facing, attach the yarn in the 1st stitch on the armpit and ch 2. 2 herr dc  sts in the 2nd st, * herr dc in the next st, 2 herr dc in the next st*, repeat from * until one stitch stitch remains. Yo, insert the hook in the next st, insert the hook in the st where you attached the yarn, yo, pull through both sts and the 1st loop, yo and pull through the 1st loop, yo and pull through two remaining loops on the hook. You just made a herr dc and connected the bottom of the round. Sl st in the 1st st of the round to join.

Rounds 2 – 28: ch 2, turn. Herr dc in 2nd st and across. Sl st into the 1st st to join.

Round 29: ch 2, turn. Herr dc in the 2nd st, *sk 1, herr dc in the next st *, repeat from * to the end. Sl st into the 1st st of the round to join.

Round 30: ch 1, turn. Sc in the 2nd st and across. Sl st into the 1st st of the round to join.

Round 31: ch 2, turn. 3 dcs flo in the 2nd stitch and across. Sl st into the 1st st of the round to join.

Finish off.

Repeat the instructions for the other sleeve.
