I’m excited to share my latest (and probably final) summer crochet pattern with you all: the Sunset Top. This piece captures the vibrant, dreamy colors of an abstract sunset through the unique intarsia crochet technique. It’s perfect for those wanting to elevate their crochet skills, offering both a fun challenge and a stunning finished piece.
About the Sunset Top
The Sunset Top is an oversized, cropped top that exudes comfort and style. It features delicate ruffles on the sleeves and waist, adding a touch of femininity to the bold color blocks. The front of the top showcases an abstract sunset with an old pink sun against a cherry sky, while the back is entirely cherry, providing a cohesive and striking look.

Notes
- This pattern uses intarsia crochet. Intarsia crochet involves using separate yarn bobbins or small balls for each color block, ensuring that yarn is not carried across the back of the work. Follow the color chart carefully and manage yarn changes neatly to maintain a clean finish.
- At the end of each row ch 1 and turn.
- Ch 1 doesn’t count as a stitch.
- Row 1 is foundation half double crochet.
- You will be working with hdc: when instructions say “(B) x 7” it means 1 hdc in the next 5 sts with yarn B.
- Each size has a link to the “Progress Tracker” for easy to follow instructions.
