Here’s one for the dreamers 🌾—the Desert Wind Dress is a breezy, boho-inspired crochet dress that’s as effortless as it looks. Designed for adventurous beginners and up, it’s a simple, satisfying make that flows beautifully with every step. I designed this one because my dress patterns are always a hit with you, and honestly, I get it—there’s something magical about crocheting your own dress.
Originally, I had plans to add a ruffle at the hem, but since the bottom of the dress is already quite wide, it didn’t feel right. So I pivoted and went for fringe trim instead (even though I had originally planned fringe for a summer top—oh well, here we are 😄). The fringe gives it a light, airy vibe that I absolutely love, and the relaxed sleeves ended up being a happy surprise too. I’d never designed sleeves quite like these before, but once I tried the dress on (with just one sleeve at first!), I was hooked.
This pattern is super beginner friendly—way easier than it looks—and perfect if you’re looking to make something wearable and wow-worthy.

Notes
- This pattern includes a full video tutorial designed to clarify any techniques or steps that are better demonstrated visually than explained in writing.
- You’ll begin by crocheting the bust in joined rounds, then continue working the body downward, finishing with the section where the fringe is added. Next, you’ll crochet a round with thin elastic around the bust to add stretch. Finally, you’ll work the sleeves directly onto the body.
- The pattern includes instructions for customizing the dress length, sleeve length, and strap for the sleeve length to suit your fit and style.
- Slst to join on the bust and body is an invisible join.
- Ch 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.
- To select your size, measure your bust circumference; it should be about 10 cm (4 in) smaller than the corresponding finished measurement listed in the Finished Measurements section for the intended fit.
