Moss Stitch
A beginner-friendly stitch that creates a dense yet flexible fabric perfect for garments.
Row 1: Ch any even number of sts. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1, sk next st. Sc in next st. Rep from * to end of row.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in next ch 1 sp, Ch 1, sk next sc. Rep from * to last ch 1 sp. 1 sc in last ch 1 sp, and last sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1, sk next sc, 1 sc in next ch 1 sp. Rep from * to last 2 sc. Ch 1, sk next st, 1 sc in last sc.
Repeat rows 3 and 4.
Herringbone Single Crochet
Begin with any number of chains.
Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, insert the hook in the left leg of the sc just made and through the next ch and pull up a loop, yo and pull through all three loops on the hook. Continue working herringbone single crochet (hsc) across.
Row 2: ch 1, turn. Sc blo in the 1st st, insert the hook into the left leg of the sc just made and through the back loop of the next st and pull up a loop, yo and pull through all three loops on the hook. Continue working herringbone single crochet through the back loop (hsc blo) across.
Repeat row 2 until you reach the desired size.
