For the yarn I used, the recommended hook size is 4 mm. I worked with a 3.00 mm hook to achieve a denser fabric and minimize the openness of the stitch.
It's a made-to-measure pattern, so you can use any yarn and hook combination. I recommend swatching first to find the fabric hand you prefer.

This is a made-to-measure pattern. The instructions guide you through adjusting the measurements to fit your body. My size S poncho measures 38 cm / 15 in in length and 110 cm / 43.3 in in circumference.

This poncho is worked as a single rectangle, then folded and seamed to create the neckline opening. The fringe is added last.
The fringe is optional and can be skipped or replaced with a simple sc edging, or left unfinished for a clean edge.
The ch 4 at the beginning of Row 2 counts as a dc + ch 1.
The ch 1 at the beginning of Row 3 does not count as a stitch.
