Scarf
S (M, L)
Choose your size based on how wide you want your scarf. The scarf wraps twice around the neck:
- S - Narrower scarf at 25 cm / 9.8 in height, perfect for a delicate look or for children
- M - Medium width at 30 cm / 11.8 in height, comfortable coverage
- L - Wider scarf at 35 cm / 13.8 in height, maximum warmth and coverage
The circumference is adjustable - work more or fewer rows until the scarf wraps comfortably twice around your neck.
Hat
Measure your head circumference to determine the appropriate size. If your head circumference is 54 cm for example, make the second size (54) listed in the pattern.

Bean stitch
Row 1
- Step 1: Start with a ch that is an odd number. I made 17 ch.
- Step 2: Insert hook into the 3rd ch from the hook and pull up a loop (2 loops on the hook)
- Step 3: yo, insert hook into the same st and pull up a loop (4 loops on the hook)
- Step 4: yo, insert hook into the same st and pull up a loop (6 loops on the hook)
- Step 5: yo and pull through all 6 loops on the hook.
- Step 6: ch 1 to secure the st.
You just made your first bean st. To make the next bean st and complete the row just follow the instructions below.
*sk next ch, and work into next st following steps 2-6 above*; rep from * to * across. Total of 8 bean sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *work bean st in the “v” space created by the bean st in the row below*; rep from * to * across.
- This pattern includes two full video tutorials linked on the front page for steps that are easier to show than tell—one for the scarf and one for the hat.
- The hat is worked in continuous rounds with the crown gathered and closed at the top.
- The scarf is worked flat in rows, then seamed to form a tube.
- Ch 2 never counts as a stitch.
